Nick has over 25 years of experience in the financial advice field and was invited to join St. James's Place in 2004. Nick’s experience of building a successful Practice means he has a unique insight into the world of the many business owning/ senior Director clients he advises.
In April 2021, Nick Jones Wealth Planning merged with Throgmorton Associates and Nick became a Director and Shareholder in the larger company. He is very proud of the business he helped build up before the merger and had an extremely capable, supportive team around him and that continues today.
Nick regularly appears on Shropshire Business TV, enjoys time spent mentoring some of the less experienced Advisers and heads the marketing activities across Throgmorton Associates.
Outside of his work as a Shrewsbury financial planner, Nick was a Trustee of the Shrewsbury Town Foundation from 2015 to 2024 and more recently has been involved in the management team of Supporting Nepal’s Children. Over the years he has also been involved with a number of other charitable or voluntary organisations at board level. This involvement has also included taking part in a number of physical challenges and events:
• April 2025 Helped organise a Gala Dinner to raise funds for MND research, raising over £22,000.
• May 2024 Part of a team from Throgmorton who joined 24 others to tackle the National 3 Peaks Challenge (Ben Nevis, Scafell, Snowdon) with a good friend who has the disease. The TAWM team raised over £11,000 for the SJP Charitable Foundation, with that being matched by SJP and included in the collective MND team’s £52,000 total at that stage.
• November 2022 Took part in a Build & Trek Challenge in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. This involved raising the funds for a vocational centre and also helping to actually build it! Supporting Nepal’s Children now has a special place in Nick’s heart.
• April 2019 Completed the Virgin London Marathon for a second time, raising over £6,000 for the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund in Shropshire between him and his colleague Steve Oliver.
• Previous adventures include: Bungee jumping off the Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough, completing the 2009 Flora London Marathon on behalf of the NSPCC and surviving a solo parachute jump from 3,500 feet. He canoed 112 miles of the Thames as part of a team of SJP colleagues from across the UK in 2013 and hiked to the top of Mt Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa, in 2014 as part of a team of 45 from across the UK that managed to raise in excess of £100,000 for the St. James's Place Charitable Foundation from this Moroccan adventure.
Nick is married to Emma and they have two sons, Ethan and Zane. The family is now complete with the addition of Wilson, an ever- hungry black Labrador.
